Postmus from the Rutgers University Center on Violence Against Women and Children highlights the potentially critical role of financial literacy education in helping survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV) gain knowledge, confidence and skills in the area of personal finances. Because IPV survivors list economic concerns as the top barrier to leaving their abusers, they are one of the many groups that could benefit substantially from financial education programs.
